March is the best time to catch that “once in a lifetime” wall-hanger Lake Erie Trophy Walleye. When pre-spawn walleyes’ bellies swell up like basketballs, they can gain as much as three pounds in body weight. This is your best chance to catch your personal best!

As a Lake Erie Fishing Charter captain, NOW is the best time to target these fish. Once they spawn in April, they will lose the body weight they have gained until the fall season, when the spawning cycle begins again.

Walleyes in the 10-pound range and larger are common, and can range as high as 13-pounds. Although you can catch some of these giants year-round – for this size class, March is your best opportunity to hook a beast.

Captain Larry’s Lake Erie Fishing Adventures is located in Lorain OH, the new “Walleye Capital of the World”. We are a year-round Lake Erie outfitter with heated cabin boats. Just a short drive from Cleveland or Port Clinton, make Lorain your next Lake Erie Fishing Adventures destination!
